Random follow #248 - @muzzashow

Its really amusing when someone 'famous' follows you or talks to you on social media.  Back in the day radio was king.  There were a handful of stations that people listened to and everyone was very tribal about it all.  You were either aligned with one station or another.

@muzzashow was (and is ) a DJ who hosted the morning show and kept everyone entertained for many years in the Auckland area.  And since those heady days with all the hype and attention things have slowed down a little.  Well maybe more than a little and more like a lot.  But hey - we're all getting older and the times change.

So whats Muzza up to now?  Well he's still on the airwaves which is really nice.  When you are able to engage and carry on with your passion long after your days of fame have dimmed then that shows what a
true love you have for what you are doing. If you're thinking of listening in then head over to http://www.theflea.co.nz and check out that he is up to.

As far as twitter goes this is a relatively new venture for him.  However given his work history and ability to entertain stringing together 140 characters into an understandable and entertaining sentence is something he is good at.  Here are a few examples -

"Cold in Devonport folks 12 degrees Brrrr colder than stepmothers breath" <-- family relations

"tony abbot rhymes with phony habit ..yeah that is lame I know" <-- politics

"The Chinese are selling funnels to help men pee straight to avoid making a mess in public restrooms which could result in a fine of $15." <-- interesting (and slightly puzzling) facts from around the world.

@muzzashow is a really nice and genuine guy who if you tweet him will reply to you.  He isn't on twitter to be Mr Popular but to engage with people the whole world round for the very same reasons that you and I are on here.

If you look hard enough you will find him hanging out at his favorite coffee shop, sitting back and savouring the flavor of a fine coffee at a number of cafe's in Devonport.  If you do see him out and about - say hello and offer to buy him a coffee.  Muzza is a really nice guy (who by all accounts also has a very sexy voice - according to the females) who is as engaging in real life as he is (was) on the radio.

Random follow #238 - @SaltRecruitment

If you're in the market to find new employment or an opportunity to make some income then twitter can actually be the place for you.  Yes there are plenty of people in the twittersphere offering job finding tips and hints for getting a great cv but how many of those people can actually link you with real employment opportunities?

@SaltRecruitment  is one agency who specialise in recruitment and employment help for those of you who are looking for a new career or a change in employment.  Based out of Auckland and covering all of New Zealand this account is all about finding the right people for the job.

What do they tweet?  Well there is the expected content like job postings and employment tips.  But then they are also able to change things up occasionally like this -

"He's been a dentist for years so he knows the drill #fridayfunny #jobjoke" 

They cover the entire country and no job is too big or too small to tell people about - 

"Love coffee? We have a couple of piping hot roles in #Wellington http://bit.ly/19fue4V #nzjobs"

And then there are the community tweets which ensure that you know there are real people on the other end of twitter.  Such as - 

"Today is R U OK? Day dedicated to reminding people to regularly check in with family, friends and colleagues http://bit.ly/18RhukJ @ruokday"

Once again here is the description of this account in 10 words or less - engaging, entertaining, value adding, opportunity providing, connective, professional, fun, brilliant.

So if you happen to be a person who is looking for a career start, a career change or just employment in general then follow the @SaltRecruitment account.  You never know what might happen.

Random follow #154 - @booksadventures

It takes some serious commitment and drive to work your way through 12 years of school and then follow that up with at least another 6 years at University.  But that's what you need to do if you if you want to earn your PhD.  Well that and then some but we won't go too much into the details.

But having a few letters behind your name doesn't make you who you are.  What it does is tell everyone else that you have a passion in a particular area, you know more than most other people do about that subject and you have the skills and abilities to both teach about it as well as teach others.

That is exactly what @booksadventures does.  He is both a writer of books as well as a reader of them.  And he is also a teacher.

Matt is a really genuine guy who comes armed with a great sense of humor.  It appears that in real life he is just as witty as he is online -

"Really? I'm so proud. RT @catatonichic New word I learned from @booksadventures: sassmonger", and

"Now THERE's a Facebook status update. "Bleakish.""

And he is pretty good with his volume of tweets produced too.  Just be warned that he tweets.  A lot.  In a good way of course.  Matt also has a knack of seeking out and RTing some really good tweets too.  So this is in no way a boring account - quite the opposite.  There is light, laughter and love in this timeline.  And libraries.  Lots and lots of libraries.  And included in a large number of those library tweets are the truly legendary @corinh.  

He is pretty good at encouraging people to engage both with reading as well events that surround the library scene as well.  Matt gives you some insight into what books and materials he is using to teach different classes so you can sort of read along if you like.  He gives credit where credit is due which is a trait not often exercised - 

"That reminds me - coffee with Jo of @UnityBooks inspired & revived me this lunchtime. Great booksellers make such a difference to city life."

So if you are looking for a tweeter who is highly engaging, very energetic and entertaining to boot then @booksadventures is just the person you are looking for .  So there you go.
