Random follow #240 - @AdamGoodallYes

Music and theatre are powerful things.  The way they can transport you to another dimension and underpin almost the entirety of your life.  Music is always there - sometimes on the surface and other times just hovering around the edges.  And music has also become the glue that both binds friends together as well as create memories that you return to over and over (and over if you're older) again.

Adam is one person for whom the allure of music and live theatre is so strong that he dedicates his twitter name to it.  Not just pre-recorded music that can be downloaded with ease but the experience of hearing and seeing music and its performance.  The magic that comes from being in that one place when instruments combine to create a sound that completely permeates your being.

@AdamGoodallYes is a mighty fine bloke from Dunedin.  Arguably the home of some of New Zealands greatest ever alternative bands.  He has a very sharp wit and some interesting views of the world.  He's not one to tag along with whatever fad happens to be top of mind for many others -

"The America's Cup is now The Kid On The Playground Who Always Whined That You Weren't Playing Go Home Stay Home The Way He Said's Cup"

and he isn't afraid to say so.  And I especially like this take on politics mixing with twitter -

"If God was that good why did he let Tau Henare have a twitter account"

But don't let us stop there.  No, let us look further at another tweet from an entirely different angle -

"the new janelle monae album is on spotify guys"  followed by
"(the new lorde track is p cool, not as cool as the new janelle monae album but still p cool)"

Adam is an all round good guy who will keep you on your toes.  His tweets are fresh, original and very often thought provoking too.  How I describe him in 10 words or less I hear you say?  Gamer, fresh, thought provoking, stirrer, alternative, good taste, opinionated, intelligent.

Just like his musical taste Adam marches along to his own beat.  And I have every hope that in January next year I will have the opportunity to meet this outstanding community member at the one and only Laneway Fest in Auckland.  I am picking he will be there if this tweet is anything to go by -

"this week is the week i commit to memory the lyrics of all the songs on chvrches' debut album"

Dunedin - get your teeth into it!

Random follow #122 - @CyrisXD

@CyrisXD is one of the good guys of social media.  He is a super tweeter who is well on his way to clocking twitter.  And anyone who can pull off a 3 to 1 ratio of followers to people they follow is totally doing something right.  In order to create that sort of statistic you need to have what we call at business school 'a business proposition'.  That is you tweet stuff that others want to read or you have information that they cant get elsewhere.

In this case CyrisXD is a website developer, gaming genius, social media magnate and a whizz at making gadgets.  So pretty much every online persons fave go to resource for when things go wrong.  Add on to that impressive list of things that he can (almost do with his eyes closed) the fact that he built http://twitchur.com/ and you pretty much get the picture.  He has his finger on the pulse and keeps twitter and his followers abreast of developments and new happenings in the online world of web spaces etc.

But don't be fooled!  Oh no!  This guy is also some kind of cool and also a whole lot of funny as well.  Here are a random assortment of tweets from within a 24 hour period -

The funny bits.  "Now that Kim Kardashian's pregnant stomach is proportionate to her ass, the earth's rotating axis can now return to normal."

Being straight up.  "Companies, listen to your customers and Reddit. If there’s 3k people who are unhappy with your service, there’s obviously something wrong."

More jokes. "If babies are delivered by storks then are gay babies delivered by fabulous flamingos?"

The innovator. "I'm too lazy to read my .NET book, so I have the screen reader, reading it to me out loud while I sit here nodding."

The ooze of sarcasm. "Nothing says "I've been caught drunk driving" like a middle aged fat guy riding a bicycle to work."

Add to that mix of tweets a whole lot of interactions and news updates about online stuff and you get the picture.  He is a straight shooting, take no bull, tell it like it is kind of tweeter.  I wouldn't say you're taking a risk in hitting the follow in the negative at all.  I would however say you are taking a positive risk in that your timeline will become filled with sharp, witty and interesting tweets.  Its up to you whether or not you take that risk.  I have.  And everything has come up peachy.

Randon follow #97 - @Morgadeth

Some people have good jobs.  Fewer people have great jobs.  And fewer still have jobs that some of us just dream about and think - "I wish that was me".  Well @Morgadeth has exactly one of those jobs.  He is a game reviewer for NZGamer.com.

When boys are young they enjoy particular things.  When I was young our local Toyworld store had an archaic little video game machine that we paid 20 cents per game to play on. The times have certainly changed since then.  Gaming has gone 3D, stereo sound, extreme graphics and it is a big business.

And so many games are getting released across multiple platforms that it is hard to keep up with what is going on in the world.  And so cue the need and opportunity for clever people like @Morgadeth to come along and tell us what games are worth us investing our time and money on and which
one's aren't.  I have no idea what the pay is like but the privilege of playing the greatest games on earth before everyone else gets to would be enough for me to live on right there.

But "what does he tweet like?" I hear you say...  well lets take a look:

"Saw a trailer for Oblivion before GI Joe, it looked pretty cool."

"Hello twits, Wrestlemania was great this year"

"Played the Injustice demo using Wonder Woman, beat Doomsday easier than Lex Luthor... Also, why doesn't this game use the circle button?"

@Morgadeth is the sort if tweeter that makes my soul sing.  I am a semi-retired gamer and I still love the buzz of buying, installing or opening the wrapping of a new game and playing it for the first time.  The total thrill of a new experience can be a complete mind blowout.   How @Morgadeth manages to do his job AND still keep his feet on the ground is quite astounding.  I SALUTE YOU!

(And just to be clear what he tweets on this account is his own thoughts and opinions.  As all good twitter accounts should do.  And just for the record not all gamers are weird looking dudes who never sleep.  that is a stereotype that is false.)
