Social media is a modern day version of communication.  Some communication styles over the years have changed and gone electronic but some ways will never change.  One of the oldest and truest forms of communication is the written letter.  You know - you write on paper, put it in an envelope, address the envelope, buy some stamps and hey presto off it goes to the person at the other end.

Todays random tweeter is someone who has a part to play in ensuring we continue to communicate.
@robholmesnz is the big cheese who looks after how we communicate with the NZ Post people online.  He is an exceptionally nice guy who has some very diverse tastes and really enjoys keeping up with current affairs and what is going on in the world.

Rob has his own personal account which he tweets directly from and he also has his official employers account and a special project one.  But more on that later.  Rob is a highly engaging person who has spent a number of years living in various places around the world and now resides in the capital - Wellington.

One of the keys to be happy is all about balance.  So for Rob who (I guess) spends a lot of time either talking about being online or actually is being online - then having interests that take him outside the office rate very highly.  One of those interests of his is - 

"Chilling out after a good day on the bike yesterday - and planning next pedal powered excursion #addicted #mtb",  and

"Bird life in #karori has never been better - 3 kereru in one tree this evening - kaka doing regular fly bys - and tui everywhere"

Because there is nothing quite like fresh air in the lungs to get you back on your feet and feeling both creative and inspired.  I also have a feeling that Rob is one of the fantastic people at the Post Office who are looking after @nzsecretsanta this year.  If you are yet to discover what all the fuss is about then head over to their website and have a look.  Its where social media meets real life in a VERY fun way.

Rob is not a tweetaholic.  He tweets when he wants to, when he has something interesting to share or not at all.  A very healthy approach to social media, and twitter in particular, in my opinion.  If you want to follow someone who is engaging, smart intellectually and is an all round great person then @robholmesnz is the person for you.
